THE MAVERICK MUM GUIDE TO HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
The holidays have started and the kids are back, running riot around the house, while your usual weekday saviors (AKA the teachers) enjoy their well-deserved break.
Whether you plan to keep warm and entertain them indoors – or brave the unpredictable Spring weather for some fresh air – we have an assortment of activities to keep little hands busy this half term.
So let’s play dress-up, bake some cakes and get creative – but mainly, let’s try to stop them ‘decorating’ the walls with crayon again.
FOR MAKERS AND CREATORS
Spark their imaginations and keep them busy with art and crafts. Getting the paints out (newspaper down first) will certainly occupy them for a few hours.
‘The world is my canvas’ comes to mind with this masterpiece. By Maverick Mum @monstrouspencil.
FOR SPORT FANS
What better way to work off some of their extra energy, than with some old fashioned games. Skittles can be played indoor or out (just make sure you hide the vases) which makes it the perfect February half term activity.
Just like maverick mum @Mamaholdmyhand’s son Phoenix, they wont want to go home after all the fun of the park.
FOR PLAYING MAKE BELIEVE
Get out the dressing-up box and transform your home into a far-away land. From fairies fluttering around the garden, to an indoor puppet theater, these ideas are sure to capture their imagination.
I mean, who doesn’t want to do an exercise video with Queen Elsa and The Good Fairy like maverick mum @Rachietea.
FOR THE ADVENTURERS
Every little adventurer needs shelter from the harsh terrains of the garden and this teepee hideout is the perfect spot. Just add a few cushions and you’ll have a hard time convincing them to come out.
If you’re really feeling adventurous then the older kids will love this kit, packed with everything they’ll need for a day exploring and maybe even a night under the stars (weather permitting).
They might eat some mud and become a leaves monster but they’ll definitely have fun. Maverick mum @Gem.peps just follows her son’s lead.
FOR THE KIDS DAY OUT
Who wouldn’t want to be a superhero for the day! During the experience, they’ll learn their super power pose and customise their very own cape.
We all love a sweet treat now and then, and what better way to inspire budding bakers than a cupcake decorating class with everything from 3D dinosaur biscuits, to unicorn cupcakes.
Even when it gets a little messy, Maverick mum @LiveLaughCreate knows it’s all part of the fun.
