the key to a unique wedding look

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of ‘playing’ accessories stylist, at our wedding stylebook shoot. Our resident beauty expert, Jo, agreed to be the model for the day and I was on hand to add the finishing touches to her whimsical yet modern bridal look.

Instead of going for a simple, more traditional wedding pendant, I chose a chunkier and quirkier option; the Key Necklace by Shan Annabelle Valla . The long gold chain with an over-sized gold, ceramic key pendant, totally worked and looked absolutely stunning. I may be biased about this necklace as it’s been firmly on my wish list for a while, but by using such a statement piece that you wouldn’t normally associate with wedding jewellery was the reason I think it worked so well.

For Jo’s hair I chose the delicate Camellia Fascinator hair clip by A Alicia. This simple silk flower transformed Jo’s look and from a practical point of view, it helped to keep Jo’s flowing locks out of her eyes – it’s quite important for a bride to be able to see her husband-to-be and guests! It also created a natural-looking hair style without being too much of a hair ‘do’ which I felt wouldn’t look right with this style.

And for the finishing touch? Well a modern bridal look would not be complete without a super chic and very on-trend cuff adorning her wrist. I decided to mix a modern trend with a sprinkle of tradition and chose a simple but pretty pearl version; the Pearl Cuff by Gillian Million.

In my book, there is no rule book when it comes to wedding jewellery! Mixing different looks and styles can look chic, stylish and elegant if you chose pieces wisely. Not ‘matching’ can often create a winning look and I think Jo’s final shot is proof of that!
