scrumptious wedding cakes online
Dare I do a post on cake when we are all fit to burst after an over indulgent Christmas break? Yes! But in all fairness it is the delicious desserts and sweet treats that you seem to consume daily at Christmas that was my source of inspiration. In my view, having a wedding and no cake, is like having a hot chocolate without whipped cream, a pizza without cheese or a choosing a small glass of wine over a large – it just doesn’t seem quite right!
The cake is one wedding tradition that definitely shows no sign of dying out. Luckily, we are blessed with the luxury of choice and inspiration in this wedding planning department. There really are so many incredible bespoke cake designers around who spoil us with the variety, creativity and the tastes that they can cook up. Increasing numbers of couples are searching for wedding cakes online, which is undoubtedly a great place to buy wedding cakes and to look for styling inspiration.
The design of your cake can make it a focal point and key decorative feature at your venue, helping to contribute to the wedding styling look you have created for your day. One key trend is floral cake decoration, with cakes being embellished with delicious intricately-made icing flowers, artificial blooms or the real thing. My cousin’s wedding cake was a plain white, three tiered cake, decorated using beautiful fresh red roses that were placed around the base of each tier. Some cakes literally are works of art!
Today’s innovative wedding industry provides us with stylishly bespoke cakes, allowing you to have each tier made in any type of cake your sweet tooth desires. This is good for your guests too who can have a choice of mouth-watering alternatives to the traditional fruit cake. If you don’t want to go for the big, tiered option there are some lovely smaller designs and novelty options for a bit of a quirky twist, as well as other lovely sweet treats to indulge guests on the day, such as cupcakes and cakepops.
If cake isn’t for you or is pushing up your budget, an increasingly popular choice is to have a cake made out of actual, real, stacked cheese wheels. I’d see it as the biggest and best cheese board I could ever hope to indulge in and what better day to do it than your wedding day? There are an increasing number of people who make their own cakes or enlist the help of “Nigella-esque” friends, which is a lovely DIY wedding touch.
