rachel simpson knows shoes
I’m delighted to announce that shoe designer, Rachel Simpson, has joined notonthehighstreet.com! She has a stunning collection of shoes perfect for brides and bridesmaids alike. She combines fashionable silhouettes with vintage inspired detailing to create truly unique shoes which can be worn long after your wedding day. She also creates ‘shoe accessories’ in the form of beautifully detailed shoe clips. If you’ve already chosen your shoes and want to add something a bit special, then these are the answer! They are also a great way to jazz up your shoes in the evening, allowing you with minimal effort (and less expence than another pair of shoes) to sparkle and dance the night away!
Rachel’s collection has created a serious wave of shoe-envy in our office! Her designs come in a range of colours, styles and materials and caters for those of us who can totter in stilettos or who need to be a bit nearer the earth!
So in light of her recent arrival to notonthehighstreet.com, I got in touch with Rachel and asked her a few questions about her collection and her advice when it comes to choosing the perfect shoes for your wedding day!
What would you say are the most important things to consider when choosing your wedding shoes?
It’s obvious but it’s important- make sure you’re completely comfortable! Not only will you wear them all day, but long into the night too so make sure they’re good for that dance floor! Also don’t be afraid to go for something a little bit different- you don’t have to exchange your personal taste for tradition if that’s not your style.
What is your main influence as a designer?
I’m a huge fan of all things vintage, and am particularly inspired by the 20s, 30s and 50s. Theatre and costume design have always been of interest too, and I try and combine these inspirations with current catwalk trends to create shoes which are on trend yet elegant and timeless.
What are your top-tips for lasting all day and night in heels?
Try your shoes on at different times of the day, and if you can, wear them around the house a little before the big day. Ironing is a good one, as you’re on your feet but not wearing them too much! The main point though is to be realistic when choosing your shoes- if you wear flats all day every day don’t suddenly go for five inch heels. Lower heels you can walk in will be much more chic!
What shoes would you choose for your wedding day and why?
I love peep-toes- (any excuse for a pampering pedi!), but they are also very flattering. I’d love a beach wedding so it would be low heels or flats and definitely a bit of metallic detail, or some added sparkle or pearl clips! Having said that I’m definitely a heels girl too, so maybe I’d have to change for the after party – surely that’s a shoe designer’s prerogative?!
Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us Rachel. You have provided some great advice and we’re all in agreement that your shoes definitely speak for themselves! Beautiful!
