PITCH UP 2016
Get ready to knock our socks off, Britain. We’re looking for the next generation of notonthehighstreet.com sellers and want YOU to join us for our series of Pitch Up events.
Spring – Saturday 30 April
Summer – Saturday 16 July
Autumn – Saturday 8 October
Sessions 9am – 4pm
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
We’ll be opening our doors to creative small business owners, designer makers and entrepreneurs to give them the chance to showcase their businesses and product ideas.
Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to speak with our product specialists across a range of categories.
As well as giving expert advise on positioning and product development, any successful pitches will be invited to sign up on the day with a significant one-off joining fee discount.
To help you get started, we’ve put together some top tips on how to successfully present your business idea and product range:
1. GRAB OUR ATTENTION
Whether you’ve only got one product to show us, a whole collection or just sketches of an idea, demonstrate just how unique you can be right from the off.
Make sure your product looks as good as it can; quality really counts and showing your work to the best of your ability is key. We want to remember how fantastic your product was, not the imperfections in the paint work.
If you’ve designed or sourced packaging for your product, we’d love to see that too – it’s always nice to imagine a customer’s delight when they open a parcel from you.
2. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT & YOUR CUSTOMER
Think about what kind of customer your product appeals to. What market or need is it serving? How much would you sell the product for? How would you deliver it to a customer if they purchased it online?
We’ll be asking all sorts of questions about your product idea and your business, so feel comfortable that you know the ins and outs.
3. BE YOURSELF & RELAX
Don’t worry about using the right jargon or swotting up on anything other than your product or business. We’re looking forward to having a chat with you to find out more about what you do.
4. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?
The pitch is as much a way for you to learn about us, as it is for us to learn about you. Have some questions prepared in advance and think about what it is you’d like to know more about. Do you have a particular point you want advice on or a specific design point that’s been worrying you?
Our team have years of experience working with the small business community and this is a great opportunity for you to get some unique insight into how to make your business a success – don’t waste your ten minutes.
5. BRING CONTACT DETAILS
Leave us with a little something to remember you by if you can. Whether it’s your business card, a product photo or a small sample of your product range if you can afford it.
