just a few more days until Mark and Lydia say ‘I do’
We have a few notonthehighstreet.com weddings this year, and the next is on Friday! Mark, our art director, is marrying the gorgeous Lydia. We thought it would be great to hear from him in these final stages. Is he panicked?? Is he heck… nothing seems to ruffle the effortlessly calm Mr Cranton!
So… only a few days to go Mark! Are you all ready or are you still arranging things?
Well, we’re still arranging a few things! Lots of last minute design bits for the table plan, table numbers, menu and order of the day, which I’m doing myself. I’m keeping focused… We’re meeting the florist the day before to pick up the flowers and then arranging them ourselves on the morning of the wedding which is a little stressful… I might try roping in my Mum to help! I’m also going out for a nice meal the evening before the big day with my family and best men which I’m really looking forward to.
Have there been any hitches so far?
Not so far but we’re flying by the seat of our pants a bit as we only booked a date for the wedding three months ago! We thought we might have an issue when the boat we’d booked to travel down the Thames caught on a fire but luckily we have been upgraded to a nicer one!
How is the lovely bride-to-be Lydia feeling right now?
She is pretty relaxed and enjoying the build-up. We’re both excited about seeing all of our friends and family on the day. She’s been a very non-bridezilla bride which has been amazing! Her dress was only £70 from eBay and a friend is making her veil and doing her make-up.
Are you planning anything especially unique for the wedding day?
We’ve organised a boat trip down the Thames from Woolwich Town Hall where our ceremony is, to Greenwich for our reception. We also have a photo emporium in the evening…
We have been trying to keep to a tight budget so have been doing lots of crafty DIY stuff ourselves to save money, like painting jam jars for flower vases and re-potting little succulent plants for favours. My Mum has hand stitched us lots of birds from vintage fabric for the table centrepieces which are really eye-catching.
Can you tell us what you got up to on the stag do?!
My best man organised my stag party to be in London. It was really nice to see all my friends together from the different parts of my life. We did a speed boat trip down the Thames followed by lunch in a Bavarian beer hall and then lots of bars in funky Shoreditch.
Where are you jetting off to for your honeymoon?
We have chosen Lindos in Rhodes, we met there 10 years ago this summer so it’s pretty special. We’re staying in a slightly nicer hotel this time though!
Best of luck Mark and Lydia! Watch this space for the photos…
