With so many new products being added to the site every week, there’s always something new to discover. We asked a few members of the notonthehighstreet.com team to select their favourite new arrivals of 2013 so far.
Gail, our Product Manager, has her eye on the Alphabet Lights by Out There Interiors (pictured above)
“This is absolutely my favourite product of the moment. I just LOVE them – I say ‘them’ because ideally I’d like two, or even three. They’re very cool, fun and would (quite literally) brighten up my living room. I’d quite like to put them around my fireplace – on the mantelpiece and hearth. They remind me of the bright lights of Las Vegas which is where my boyfriend and I went on our first holiday together and was one of the most amazing holidays I’ve ever been on!”
Harriet works in our PR team, and is currently coveting the Kiko Glass Frame by Nkuku
“As a serial collector I am constantly seeking new ways to display all of the bits and bobs I hoard. Simple yet beautiful, these frames encourage creativity and that is why they will be at the top of my wish list this year. One day when I own my dream house I am going to have a crafts room. It will be filled with ribbons, wrapping paper and unfinished projects. These will adorn the walls, framing postcards, vintage maps and interesting typography. I’m going to use them to display old concert tickets, Polaroid photographs and hand-stamped words that evoke some of my favourite memories.”
Lucy Phillips helps to look after our community of small business sellers, and the Eco Friendly Wood Earphones by Woodbuds were one of her first purchases this year.
“I love the thinking behind the design of this product, and I am a big fan of its eco-friendly credentials. Woodbuds plant a tree for every 100 products sold and donate a percentage of their sales to environmental organisations. I love it when established design materials for a product are successfully challenged, I previously thought that earphones were the sort of product that could only be made from plastic. The wood used for the earphones is FSC certified sustainable plantation hardwood and they use bio-plastic for their cable which all looks very stylish. They had very speedy delivery and my earphones arrived in very cool 100% recycled packaging with a choice of three headphone sizes which was very handy. We have a lot going on in our busy offices and when I really need to focus I pop these in my ears.”
Sarah Wilson, our Head of brand, has the Longhorn Bull Bicycle Holder by Out There Interiors on her wishlist.
“I love this because it serves a really practical purpose yet looks great too – with or without the bike. It will provide a cool solution to save my carpet from dirty bike wheels, and I could decorate it with fairy lights at Christmas! I’m definitely going to treat myself to one, and I also know quite a few fair weather bikers who need a way to store their bikes when they’re not using them (which is often), so this would make a great gift for them, too.”
