Emma & Simon’s Wedding
The beautiful Cornish coastline was a picturesque setting for Emma and Simon’s intimate family day. We love her homemade cake, and the brilliant pictures she’s shared with us from her photo booth. Congratulations Emma and Simon!
Simon and I had been tempted to get married abroad after getting engaged, but were worried that a lot of our friends and family wouldn’t be able to make it. We’d always wanted a beach wedding, so the Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall was the perfect venue. One of our first holidays together was to Cornwall, and we loved the luxurious but relaxed feel of Watergate bay. Plus it was just the right size for an intimate wedding.
The First Dance:
Both Simon and I love Tom Odell’s Grow Old With Me, so it was a natural choice for our first dance.
My lovely mum made my wedding cake. It was a three tiered ‘naked’ cake filled with butter cream and homemade lemon curd. She covered it with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries to make it look summery.
We wanted flowers that were in season, so peonies were perfect for a June wedding. I also had dusty pink Miranda garden roses and yellow billy buttons in my bouquet, with eucalyptus and succulents as the foliage.
It was just lovely to have all of our close friends and family in one place. We had a relatively small wedding of around forty people, so we were able to have a good catch up with everyone attending on the day itself.
Pearl of Wisdom:
My resounding advice is not to worry. It’s easy to say in hindsight, but make the decisions that are right for you, rather than those around you (apart from your other half of course) and you’ll both have an amazing day!
