COSY UP (NORDIC STYLE)

As the summer sun subsides and we enter hibernation, it’s time to stock up on all things warm and fluffy. Taking inspiration from our oh-so suave friends in Scandinavia, we’ve put together one very cosy styling guide that’ll have you channeling your new found Nordic know-how in no time.

From very chunky knits to Danish candle holders, we’ve got everything you’ll need to introduce a touch of Scandi chic into your home this winter.

Muted colours and soft textures are a must when it comes to Nordic interiors. When using neutral tones in a room, it’s important to layer colours to add depth. Beige can be bland – but add a light grey here or an off-white there – and you’ve got a defined but simple palette. We’ve also introduced yellow and copper tones to our colourway to add warmth – it is winter after all.

Have fun with the soft furnishings. Be as tactile as possible and introduce different fabrics into the room – natural linen, smooth velvet, chunky knits and fine weaves are all great materials for comfy cushions, warm blankets and snuggle-worthy throws. All you need now is a hot chocolate with a few marshmallows.

If there’s one word that sums up this look, it’s got to be hygge. With no literal translation in English, our new favourite Danish phrase is all about comfort – and in decor terms, creating a warm, cosy environment to enjoy with friends and family. So, without further adieu, we’ll let you light a candle or two and cosy up on the sofa with your loved ones.
