As you might expect, we love birthdays at notonthehighstreet.com. Not only is there an opportunity for cake, but most importantly we just love finding the perfect gift for someone special.
Last week, it was the turn of our CFO, Robert, to receive some birthday love. Being a dedicated fan of the proms, we decided to give him one of Betsy Benn’s popular destination prints, and chose to personalise it with the names, dates and details of some of the performances he has attended.

We were so excited to learn that the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of one of our sellers, Beulah London. She wore their stunning Sarai dress when she attended a black tie charity gala at St James’ Palace on Thursday 13 September. The event was held in honour of the 100 Women in Hedge Funds association, for which the Duke of Cambridge is patron.

Being constantly surrounded by beautiful clothes and accessories is one of the many perks of working at notonthehighstreet.com, and with the launch of our first ever A/W fashion collection last week, we decided we would snoop around the office to see what lovely things the members of our team have bought from the site.
Jenny, our Partner Production Manager, wears the Boheme Print Blaine Dress by Nancy Mac. She says: “I love my Nancy Mac dress. It’s very easy to wear. I’m not usually one for patterns, but it isn’t too floral and it goes brilliantly with my Laura Creer jewellery”.
Annette, our International Operations and Strategy Manger wears the Swallow Necklace by Posh Totty Designs Boutique. She says: “I love this swallow necklace by Posh Totty – it’s a great one to team with a black top or dress to make the gold design really stand out”.
Kate, our Creative Director, wears the Lucy Ballet Skirt by Kiki’s. She says: “This was a Friday afternoon impulse purchase. It has been a huge hit though, garnering compliments everytime I wear it. In fact, a friend has said she is going to buy it as well (she is moving to Australia, so it’s okay). The skirt is both on trend and classic as the same time and though it’s not a colour I would normally wear has proven quite adaptable within my wardrobe!”.

Today is National Poetry Day, and it just so happens that we’ve got an amazing, original poem to share with you! One of the newest additions to our wonderful customers service team, Neil Chinneck (pictured above), was asked to pen some lines inspired by an item on the site. He chose the lovely ‘Keep Calm and Carry On Cooking’ apron by Catherine Colebook, and this is what he came up with:
It has long since been the British way,
When attempting to bake a tricky soufflé,
That if your pudding should start to sink,
To keep your chin up, and try to think,
Of a perky little tune, or a lively song,
But above all to keep calm, and carry on.
So with that helpful advice in mind
We bring you an item of the very best kind:
Hand-printed, of course, for that personal feel
And at twenty two pounds, a bit of a steal.
So if it’s a new apron for which you’ve been looking
We present: ‘Keep Calm and Carry on Cooking.’
Offered in three most wondrous colours,
It will keep your clothes most adequately covered,
And the itty-bitty button’s a cute little touch
To keep up your spirits if things get too much.
No need to go mad, or do anything silly
With the help of our motivational pinny.
So come lunch, come dinner or breakfasting time,
Come sugar or salt, come syrup or brine;
To keep you on track, the thing that you need
When calamity strikes and you’ve people to feed,
When the chips are on fire, and you’ve burned all the bacon,
Is the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On Cooking’ Apron!
Please expect all our posts to rhyme from now on…

One of our sellers, Sunuva, were thrilled to learn that they had a celebrity amongst their customers. Madonna’s daughter, Mercy, was spotted on holiday with her family wearing one of their green elephant rash vests.
Sunuva rash vests are stylish, comfortable to wear and quick to dry. Most importantly they give 50+ UPF protection, meeting the highly respected Australian and New Zealand stringent sun protection guidelines.
Sunuva was founded by friends Emily and Sabrina, who between them have six children. Unable to find tasteful UV protective swimwear for their own little ones, they created a swimwear and beachwear range that you will find irresistible and that your kids will love dressing in too!
