30 July 2011, a special day for weddings
The 30 July 2011 was definitely a busy and special day for weddings! Many of the couple’s who hold wedding gift lists with us, tied the knot at the weekend. As did our lovely notonthehighstreet.com bride, Louise, who we shall now be calling Mrs Boothe! She had a truly wonderful day and can’t wait to tell us all about it, when she returns from her honeymoon.
And just in case you didn’t know – there was even a royal wedding this Saturday, with Zara Phillip’s saying, ‘I do’, to former England rugby captain; Mike Tindall. Zara and Mike got married this Saturday, after first meeting each other in 2003. They enjoyed a private ceremony in Edinburgh’s Canongate Kirk, with the Royal Family in attendance of course, including her Grandmother the Queen. Thousands of excited well-wishers came out into the city’s streets, to witness Scotland’s first royal wedding in almost 20 years.
Zara has often been referred to as a ‘Royal Rebel’ over the years, known for challenging ‘Royal tradition’, on more than one occasion (getting her tongue pierced – being one act that you wouldn’t expect to hear of Kate!). She wore a traditional ivory silk faille and silk duchess satin gown. It was made by British and Edinburgh-trained designer Stewart Parvin. And our verdict? We think she looked positively stunning! Being and looking comfortable is so important and she chose a style that mixed contemporary with traditional, striking a perfect balance of the two, that more than befitted the day. We have also been admiring the beautiful Greek Key tiara that Zara borrowed from her Mother. If only we all had family jewels like that!
Zara looked elegant, happy and relaxed as she waved to crowds outside the venue, before and after the ceremony. Afterwards the couple and their guests made their way to the Palace of Holyroodhouse (the queen’s official home in Scotland) to celebrate and enjoy a private reception.
Please join me in sending love and congratulations to EVERYONE who celebrated their wedding this weekend!
