Year of the Horse

Chinese New Year is fast approaching. This far-eastern occasion is centuries old and is traditionally a time to honor deities as well as ancestors. Chinese New Year’s Eve is a time for families to gather for an annual reunion dinner. Windows and doors are decorated with red paper cuts and couplets (a form of Chinese poetry) relating to good fortune, happiness, wealth and longevity; firecrackers are lit, money is exchanged in red paper envelopes, and who can forget the imposing dragon and lion dances.

Each Chinese year is based on a symbol of the zodiac, literally meaning ‘circle of animals’, and this year it is the turn of the energetic and strong-willed horse. In celebration of this ancient tradition, we have put together a selection of our favourite equine-inspired products including a gorgeous printed scarf, solid silver horse bit necklace and lucky stacking rings.
