We wanted to put together a collection of the best Christmas gifts on the site. Who better to edit this collection than our very own sellers? We’re so proud of the community of small businesses we have built, and even prouder that many of them have become friends, provide moral support for one another and even shop from each other. So we asked a handful of sellers to select their favourite gifts from other sellers across the site. Here’s what they chose:
Best gift for babies
The Chocolate Library, who make delicious personalised chocolate bars, chose the Bespoke Map Initial Artwork by Bombus as a great gift for little ones. You can select any letter and location and Bombus will source a vintage map from their impressive archive and hand-cut the initial. You could chose the place the baby was born, its first home or another sentimental location to create a keepsake they will treasure.
“This is a really lovely gift for a baby’s first Christmas. The brilliant thing about it is that as the baby grows up, they can keep this forever as it would look excellent anywhere in the house – not just in the nursery.”
Best gift for friends
Wild Things Funky Little Dresses hand-make beautiful costume dresses for little girls, including this festive Robin Play Dress. They have selected the Cake Slice Club by The Cake Nest as their favourite gift for a friend. When you buy someone a subscription to the the Cake Slice Club, they’ll receive a slice of cake delivered to their door once a month for either three or six months.
“My idea of heaven! How wonderful to receive a slice of cake in the post each month. It’s the sort of thing that I’d forget about too, so it would be a lovely surprise when it arrives – much more exciting than a magazine subscription! The cakes look completely delicious too.”
Best gift for a husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend
Silversmiths between you and i, whose trademark Morse code jewellery has long been among our most popular gifts for loved ones, have named Betsy Benn’s Destination Print as the perfect gift for their other half. Select up to 11 sentimental names, places or phrases and Betsy will create your bespoke print in the style of a traditional bus blind.
“This would make a great gift for my hubby. Such a clever design – I would list all the special places that mark the important milestones from our journey together.”
Best quirky gift
Queen of beautiful, bespoke wooden signs, Abigail Bryans, has selected the Moustache Door Mat by Thabto as her favourite quirky gift. It would be especially appropriate for anyone who recently took part in Movember, or indeed the chaps who have gone that extra mile and are now participating in ‘Decembeard‘.
“This mat is lovely and certainly quirky – it makes me smile and I’m buying it for a friend who is just about to buy a new home and has a great sense of humour. I would actually quite like someone to buy it for me as a Christmas present (hint hint), it would be perfect for my new workshop-come-studio in my garden.”
Best entertaining accessory
The Oak & Rope Company (as you might suspect from the name) specialise in hand-crafted oak gifts that are designed, made and engraved in their studio in Kent. They’ve chosen the Personalised Cake Topper by Miss Cake as the best accessory for entertaining this year. Miss Cake’s toppers are carefully cut from food-safe coloured acrylic and are easily cleaned, so they can be used year after year.
“I really want one of the Personalised Cake Toppers, as this year I am trying to dazzle all my guests with great decorations so they don’t notice my cooking so much… I need all the help I can get after what looks to be a hectic festive period.”
Best edible gift
The ever-cool Suzi from Twisted Twee sells a range of witty and inspired t-shirts, textiles and home accessories. She will be ordering a set of Personalised Christmas Biscuits by Les Quatre. You can choose words or phrases to personalise each biscuit (up to 12 characters per biscuit) to create a unique set of treats that will impress your guests.
“These look delicious and I will completely enjoy giving them to my partner, who has recently discovered he’s gluten intolerant. I will personalise them with the words ‘unlucky’, ‘poison’, ‘danger’, ‘hazardous’, ‘peril’ and ‘deadly’. This will get him back for a lifetime of servitude.”
