our wedding story… Kirsty and Rob

Wedding Photography by Ben Phillips

We are so excited to be able to share the wedding of Kirsty and Rob with you. Kirsty has written such a beautiful and touching account that there is really no need for a long introduction from us – read on for a little piece of wedding heaven.

Rob and I got married on Saturday 4th June 2011 in St Mary’s Church, Barnes followed by a reception and dinner at Kew Gardens. Having been born and brought up in London I really wanted to do a London wedding but as Rob is from the country, we wanted it with all the beauty and feel of the rural countryside, with plenty of greenery and flowers to make it special.

Working in events meant that planning the wedding was a great opportunity to work with lots of friends and suppliers and use some of the expertise I have learned from the business to make my own day extra special! We wanted to combine a traditional and classic wedding with some special tweaks and additions that made it contemporary and above all else, fun!

We started with our wonderful graphic designer friend (Natalie at Noah Design) making us our very own logo which we then used for all the stationery. It was based on a tree surrounded by pretty and relevant graphics such as a small cat shape to represent our beloved pet. This design was used on the invites, thank you cards, name place cards and the order of services. A friend also had a personalised jug made with our logo on as a wedding gift so we will remember it forever! To keep this original feel we wanted a wedding gift list to match, which is why notonthehighstreet.com was perfect. We got to choose unique gifts, many of which were personalised, something we really wanted, and not limit ourselves to one large supplier.

I got my dress from Sassi Holford who were fantastic and custom made a dress to suit the style I was after. They even had a tiny blue bow in the stitching underneath as your something blue! The bridesmaid dresses were lovely too and were from Dessy. It’s a great place to go, as you can choose a colour to match your scheme which was very important to me. For the jewellery I went to the beautiful designer Scott Johnson in South West London (I am sure every bride would swoon over him!) who tailored made my head piece, earrings, bracelet and matching accessories for my bridesmaids. He was really reasonable and worked in my Mum’s pearl earrings to the head piece as my something old, which made it very personal.

The next installment of Kirtsy and Rob’s wedding story (complete with more pictures!) will be posted on Thursday, so do come back and read more about their day then. For now though take a look at some of the personalised Gift List items the couple truly adore:
