Holly and I nipped off to Devon last week to open The Contemporary Craft Fair 2009. The fair was founded in 2004 as a non-profit making company, established with European funding, as a vehicle for rural regeneration. It’s become a cultural event, attracting visitors from all over the country to see the design makers specialising in crafts from ceramics and glass to textiles and furniture. It was an honour to present the Best New Small Business Award to Helaina Sharpley, who makes wonderfully unique designs with wire (pictured with us, in front of some of her work). She won a membership to notonthehighstreet.com so look out for her appearance very soon!
